Q. Is there an admission fee?

Absolutely not!

Meaford’s Christmas On The BayTM has been designed to be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of income. While prices for vendor products cover a wide range, a family can come, partake in children programming, complete the children’s scavenger hunt, decorate Georgie cookies, enjoy the live shows and music, warm themselves beside the fire, and take in the enchanting smells and ambiance all for free.

Q. What is the GPS address of Christmas On The BayTM

The market portion of Christmas On The BayTM will take place in the Meaford Market Square adjacent to the Meaford Hall and Cultural Centre (12 Nelson St East, Meaford). Other activities will occur in the Meaford Library (11 Sykes St North, Meaford). For a full site map, click here.

Q. Once at Christmas On The BayTM, where can I get tourist information?

The tourist information kiosk in the Big Red Apple, located next to the market entrance on Sykes St North, will be open during regular Christmas On The BayTM operating hours.

Q. Are their public washrooms?

The wheelchair accessible toilets on the Main Floor of the Meaford Hall Arts and Cultural Centre will be open to the public during regular market operating hours. The Meaford Public Library also has fully accessible washrooms. The various restaurants, wine bars, and pubs throughout downtown Meaford will also have toilets available for their patrons.

Q. Can I bring my dog?

Meaford is officially a dog-friendly community so feel free to bring your dog.

Of course, your best friend will need to be well behaved towards other people and other four legged friends and remain on a leash at all times. You will be required to clean up after your dog and doggy poo bags will be on hand at the Big Red Apple in case you forgot to bring one.

Q. Where can I stay?

There are lots of places to stay in Meaford and the surrounding area. A list of participating accommodations will be provided under the  Lodgings tab, including Christmas On The BayTM accommodation specials.

Q. Where do I park?

Yes, we have lots and lots of free parking on the local streets. Overflow parking and parking for larger vehicles and buses can be found at the Meaford Harbour just 250m away. Be sure to note any posted parking restrictions as the municipality still needs to conduct overnight snow removal operations.

Q. What steps have been taken to ensure accessibility?

Everything within the market space has been designed with accessibility in mind. For those with special mobility needs there is a designated drop off/pick-up point beside Meaford Hall (12 Nelson St East, Meaford). All the market stalls counters are just 36″ high, there is wheelchair access to the fire pits, flashing lights have been avoided, and the market layout is dementia-friendly.

Q. Can I purchase one of your gently used Christmas trees after the marlet?

Absolutely!  During the market our trees can be purchased at a discounted rate, on a first-come, first-served basis, with pick-up after the market ends on Monday December 4th, 5:00PM – 7:00PM. Visit the Big Red Apple during market hours for details. Cash and Carry only. No delivery. The tree base, decorations and lighting that might be on your tree are not included!

Q. Who is organizing Christmas On The BayTM

We are a group of local residents, all volunteer, who had a vision to invite the community to engage in a magical event celebrating our community, South Georgian Bay, and the festive time of year. 

We wanted to offer something unique to the area that would include community groups, local shops and restaurants, talented artisans from near and afar, all entertaining and fêting the spirit of the season. It is not just a market – it is a celebration of us all.

But how can such a small place do something so large, you ask? We harnessed the diverse abilities of our volunteers and combined our efforts to seek out sponsors to totally fund the costs associated with Christmas On The BayTM – their generosity and enthusiasm have been amazing!

We are grateful for the community’s support and are excited for the results.
